Dr. Madison Buchanan is a double board-certified psychiatrist in adult and addiction psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area. She works with individuals who want to understand the deeper origins of their symptoms — through both biological and psychological frameworks. While she has particular interests in young adults, creatives, caregivers, and those impacted by substance use, she considers herself a generalist.
She completed her training at Vanderbilt and UCSF. During her residency, she spearheaded the Nashville Narcan Project, a community-based overdose prevention and naloxone distribution initiative. Her approach is informed by psychoanalytic thought and a deep appreciation for human subjectivity, balanced with the biological rigor of her medical training and additional study in integrative psychiatry.
Outside of her practice, she can be found taking in the arts and exploring Northern California with her family and rescued hound, Georgie.
